Scottish Labour Says Oil, Gas Must Be Built Upon
The Scottish Labour Party states that the shipbuilding, engineering and oil and gas sectors must be built upon in its recently released Industrial Strategy document for the country.

The Scottish Labour Party has stated that the shipbuilding, engineering and oil and gas sectors must be built upon in its recently released Industrial Strategy document for the country.

“In industries like food and drink - notably whisky - financial services, shipbuilding and engineering, oil and gas, the creative sector, biotechnology and bioscience, Scotland’s economy has a strong reputation on which we must build,” the document states.

“These important industries play a critical role in the Scottish economy, not least in establishing our international competitiveness thereby sustaining higher living standards for our society as a whole,” the document continued.

In its industrial strategy document, Scottish Labour said it had the vision that Scotland could become the ‘green enterprise centre’ of Europe.

“That includes the planned development of oil and gas decommissioning technology and production: onshore and offshore,” the report said.

The Scottish National Party (SNP) is currently governing the country. Scottish Labour has the third most seats in the Scottish Parliament, according to the Scottish Parliament website.
