Japan Drilling MDW semi Hakuryu-5 (1,640') has departed Korsakov in Russia and is now headed to Labuan to prepare for an upcoming program in block SK320 with Mubadala Petroleum. That work should keep the rig busy to early February 2018, with a 30-day option also available. Upon completion of that contract, Rosneft will take the rig to Vietnam for a campaign that will keep it working to June 2018.

Further to a RigLogix report from 14 August, market sources indicate that Eni will sublet Cat D MDW semi Songa Enabler (1,640') from Statoil for a three-well program at the Goliat field, offshore Norway. The program will include the drilling of the first three of eight infill wells to be drilled at the Barents Sea field. Work is scheduled to begin in the first part of 2018. The rig is currently on sublet from Statoil to Bayerngas for one well, and will then pass to Aker BP for a three-well sublet before moving to the new sublet contract with Eni. The unit is then committed to Statoil until 2023 at least.

Norwegian authorities have granted Lundin Petroleum permission to drill the 7219/12-3S well in PL 533, using using UDW semi Leiv Eiriksson (7,500'). The well will target the Hurri prospect in the Barents Sea, and will begin on completion of the current Hufsa well. Drilling is expected to take around 122 days, consisting of 60 days for the main well plus 30 days for a sidetrack and 32 days for testing in the event of a discovery. The well, which will be drilled in a water depth of around 1,027' and around 240 km south of the Bear Island nature reserve, is targeting pre-drill resource potential of 218 million barrels of oil equivalent. The rig is committed to Lundin until March 2018 with further options outstanding.

Mubadala Petroleum has completed drilling of two infill wells, MNA_18 and MNA-19, at the Manora field in the G1/48 concession in the Gulf of Thailand, using jackup ENSCO 115 (ex-Atwood Orca) and is preparing to spud a new exploration well. The Ladawan-D exploration well is targeting the is located approximately six miles from the Manora Platform, outside of the Manora Production Area. This well will be followed by a further exploration well, targeting the L prospect. The ENSCO 115 is committed to the operator until August 2018, with further options outstanding. the MNA-19 well encountered 118' of net oil pay and took 15 days to drill, while the MNA-18 found 87' of net oil pay in one zone and 68' of net pay in the secondary target. That well took just 16 days to drill and is now being completed prior to the rig moving to the Ladawan location.
